What happens if my Trezor is lost or stolen?
What happens if my Trezor is lost or stolen?
Your funds remain safe as long as your recovery seed is secure. A thief who has your Trezor device but not your PIN is locked out after three incorrect PIN attempts, after which the device wipes itself. To restore your wallet, buy a new Trezor (or use any compatible wallet application), enter your 12- or 24-word recovery seed during setup, and your full balance reappears. This is why protecting your recovery seed matters far more than protecting the physical device.
Can I use my recovery seed with other wallets?
Can I use my recovery seed with other wallets?
Yes. Trezor uses open standards — BIP-39 for standard seeds and SLIP-39 for Shamir Backup — that are supported by many hardware and software wallets. If you need to access your funds without a Trezor device, you can enter your seed into a compatible wallet such as Electrum, Exodus, or MetaMask. Only do this as a last resort, on an air-gapped or trusted device, because entering your seed into any software wallet exposes it to malware risks that a hardware wallet is designed to prevent.
Is my crypto stored on the Trezor device?
Is my crypto stored on the Trezor device?
No. Cryptocurrency never leaves its blockchain — what your Trezor stores are the private keys that prove ownership of coins recorded on the blockchain. When you “send” crypto, your Trezor signs the transaction with those private keys inside the secure chip, and the signed transaction is broadcast to the network. This means losing or destroying your Trezor does not destroy your crypto, as long as you have your recovery seed to regenerate the keys.
What is the difference between Trezor Model One and Trezor Model T?
What is the difference between Trezor Model One and Trezor Model T?
The Trezor Model One is the original hardware wallet: compact, budget-friendly, and operated with two physical buttons. The Trezor Model T adds a full color touchscreen, a microSD card slot for encrypted storage, and support for Shamir Backup (SLIP-39) as well as a broader range of coins including some that require touch-based input during transactions. Both devices offer the same core security guarantees; the Model T is suited to users who want more flexibility, a larger coin list, or the added resilience of Shamir Backup.
Do I need internet access to use my Trezor?
Do I need internet access to use my Trezor?
You need an internet connection to broadcast transactions and to sync your wallet balance, but the security-critical parts of every operation happen offline inside the Trezor device itself. The private keys never touch your internet-connected computer. You can compose and sign a transaction while offline and broadcast it later, though Trezor Suite will need to connect to check balances and push transactions to the network.
Can Trezor be hacked remotely?
Can Trezor be hacked remotely?
No. Trezor is an offline device with no wireless radio — no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no NFC. It communicates only through the USB cable you physically connect. Even with that cable attached, all sensitive operations are confirmed on the Trezor display and require physical button confirmation on the device. A remote attacker has no path to extract keys or approve transactions without your physical presence at the device.
What is Trezor Suite and do I need it?
What is Trezor Suite and do I need it?
Trezor Suite is Trezor’s official desktop and web application for managing your wallet. It handles firmware updates, lets you send and receive crypto, shows your portfolio, and provides access to features like coin control, passphrase management, and Tor privacy routing. You do not strictly need Trezor Suite — your Trezor works with third-party applications such as MetaMask, Electrum, and MyEtherWallet — but Suite is the recommended way to get started and is required for firmware updates. Download it from trezor.io/trezor-suite.
How many wallets can I have on one Trezor?
How many wallets can I have on one Trezor?
A single Trezor can generate a practically unlimited number of accounts within one wallet, and you can access additional completely separate wallets by enabling a passphrase. Each unique passphrase produces a distinct wallet with its own addresses and balances — none of them are visible without that exact passphrase. Many users keep a small amount of funds in the no-passphrase wallet as a decoy and the bulk of their holdings behind a passphrase, a technique sometimes called a hidden wallet.
Does Trezor support NFTs?
Does Trezor support NFTs?
Trezor supports Ethereum-based NFTs (ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens) through integrations with third-party applications such as MetaMask and OpenSea. You connect your Trezor to MetaMask as a hardware wallet, which means NFT transactions are signed securely on-device rather than in the browser. Trezor Suite itself does not display NFT artwork or metadata in its portfolio view, but the underlying Ethereum account that holds your NFTs is fully accessible and protected by your device.
How do I contact Trezor support?
How do I contact Trezor support?
Visit trezor.io/support to browse the knowledge base or submit a support request. Trezor does not offer phone support. Be aware that Trezor support staff will never ask for your recovery seed, PIN, or passphrase — anyone who does is impersonating Trezor and attempting to steal your funds. You can also find community help in the official Trezor subreddit and the Trezor Forum at forum.trezor.io.
