Why Use Third-Party Apps With Trezor
- Access DeFi and dApps — connect to decentralised exchanges, lending protocols, and NFT platforms through browser-based interfaces.
- Broader coin support — some cryptocurrencies are only accessible via dedicated third-party wallets until native Trezor Suite support arrives.
- Advanced features — tools like Electrum offer deep fee control, multi-signature setups, and watch-only wallet configurations.
- Unified portfolio views — apps like Exodus combine multiple assets in a single interface with built-in exchange functionality.

Connect Trezor to MetaMask
1
Install MetaMask
Download and install the MetaMask browser extension from metamask.io for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge. Never install MetaMask from unofficial sources.

Open MetaMask and Go to Connect Hardware Wallet
Click the MetaMask extension icon, then click the account selector at the top of the popup. Select Add account or hardware wallet, then choose Add hardware wallet.
3
Select Trezor and Connect
Choose Trezor from the list of hardware wallet options. MetaMask will open a new tab and attempt to communicate with your device. Connect your Trezor via USB and unlock it with your PIN when prompted.
4
Select Accounts to Import
MetaMask displays a list of Ethereum addresses derived from your Trezor seed. Select the accounts you want to use in MetaMask and click Unlock.
5
Use Trezor for Transaction Signing
Your selected accounts appear in MetaMask like any other account, but every transaction or signature request triggers a confirmation prompt on your Trezor device. Always verify details on the device screen before confirming.
Connect Trezor to Exodus
1
Download and Install Exodus
Download Exodus from exodus.com for your operating system. Verify the installer’s authenticity using the checksum provided on the official download page.

Open Exodus and Navigate to the Trezor Section
In Exodus, open the left-hand menu and select Trezor. Exodus provides a dedicated section for hardware wallet integration.
3
Connect and Unlock Your Trezor
Plug in your Trezor device via USB and enter your PIN on the device when Exodus prompts you. Exodus will establish a connection with the device.
4
Select Assets to Manage
Exodus will present the list of supported assets it can manage via your Trezor. Enable the coins you wish to use and confirm on the device.
5
Manage Assets in Exodus
Your Trezor-backed accounts now appear in Exodus alongside any software wallet accounts. Sending assets will always prompt for confirmation on the Trezor device screen.
If you are a developer building an application that integrates Trezor signing, explore the Trezor Connect SDK at connect.trezor.io. The SDK provides a simple JavaScript API that lets your web or desktop application request transaction signing, public key export, and other operations from a connected Trezor device — no custom firmware or low-level USB handling required.
