What’s in the Box
Every Trezor ships with the same core contents, regardless of model. Open your package on a clean, flat surface and confirm all of the following items are present:- Trezor hardware wallet — the device itself, sealed inside an inner cardboard sleeve
- USB cable — USB-C for Model T and Model T Plus, Micro-USB for Model One
- Recovery seed cards — two or more blank cards for writing down your seed words
- Stickers — official Trezor stickers included as a small bonus
- Quick-start booklet — a printed guide pointing you to trezor.io/start
- Holographic security seal — applied to the device’s inner sleeve or outer box flap
Verify the Holographic Seal
The holographic security seal is your first line of defense against a tampered device. Trezor applies this seal to the inner packaging to show whether the box has been opened after leaving the factory. Inspect the seal under good lighting. A genuine seal displays a shifting, iridescent holographic pattern. It should be fully intact with no lifting edges, tears, punctures, or residue indicating it was previously removed and re-applied. If you see any of these warning signs, do not use the device.A missing or damaged holographic seal does not always mean a device is compromised — seals can occasionally be damaged in shipping. However, treat any seal irregularity as a serious concern and contact Trezor support immediately before continuing setup.
Verify Device Authenticity at Trezor.io/Start
Trezor builds a cryptographic authenticity check directly into the setup process. Follow the steps below to run it.1
Navigate to trezor.io/start
Open your browser and go to trezor.io/start. This is the only official starting point for device setup. Bookmark it to avoid phishing sites that mimic the page.
2
Download and open Trezor Suite
Follow the prompt to download Trezor Suite for your operating system. Install it, then launch the application. Trezor Suite communicates with your device over a secure, encrypted channel.
3
Connect your Trezor
Plug your Trezor into your computer using the included USB cable. Trezor Suite detects the device and immediately begins an automated authenticity check. This check verifies a cryptographic signature stored in the device’s secure element — it cannot be faked by a counterfeit device.
4
Review the authenticity result
Trezor Suite displays a clear pass or fail result. A passing result confirms that your device is genuine and has not been tampered with at the firmware level. A failing result means you should stop immediately and contact Trezor support.
5
Proceed to firmware installation
Once authenticity is confirmed, Trezor Suite will prompt you to install the latest firmware. Brand-new Trezor devices ship without firmware as a deliberate security feature. Proceed with the installation — it takes under two minutes and completes entirely on-device.
